READ : John 4:7-29
Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. (v. 14 NIV)
It was a divine appointment and Jesus took advantage of it. The Samaritan woman happened upon the well where Jesus was resting, and the water she came to draw produced within her a wellspring of eternal life. She found living water on that day and her life would never be the same again.
Can you recall the day you first discovered the difference between a self-centered and a God-centered life? Did you meet him along the roadside of your life where you were stunned by his loving, merciful knowledge of every thought you held so near?
The Samaritan woman was startled to find a man – a Jew, no less! – who knew so much about her and yet cared so deeply for her. Jesus knew all about her spotty past and was there to invite her into a forgiven present and worshipful future. He won over this woman’s soul through his gentle tenacity.
Jesus is a soul winner. It’s an old-fashioned expression but a very present reality. Unless he’s won yours, you aren’t really his. Soul winner is he . . . and soul winners are we.
Lord, give me the courageous joy and grace to boldly proclaim your love to all who cross my path today.
