Clear Path to Truth

READ : Mark 16:1-8

When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. (v. 4)

To construct its portion of the transcontinental railroad, the Central Pacific Railroad overcame enormous obstacles. The arduous task of laying track over the Sierra Nevada mountain range was further complicated by fifteen-foot-deep snow. Digging through the granite hills sometimes proceeded at the rate of only eight inches per day.

On the way to the tomb, the women hoping to anoint Jesus’ body realized that a huge barrier lay in the way: the stone blocking the entrance. Imagine for a moment that they had not been able to get past the boulder and into the tomb. The resurrection of Christ could have taken place without the stunning truth being exposed. Since God intended for the women to discover it, God moved the stone.

What rock is in your way today? Cultural relativism and scientific theory both sometimes make God’s truth seem obscure. Is there a granite mountain range between you and a clear view of the truth? Our God delights in moving mountains to reveal himself (Isaiah 40:4-5) and he promises to generously give wisdom to all who ask (James 1:5). God clears the path to truth.

God of life and light, clear the obstacles that impede my way so that I can rejoice in a clear view of your truth!
