READ : Genesis 41:14-40
Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find anyone else like this—one in whom is the spirit of God?” (v. 38)
I remember hearing the story of the little boy in church who told his parents that he knew what a saint was. After spending Sunday after Sunday looking at the beautiful stained-glass windows in the sanctuary, the boy declared: “A saint is someone who lets the light shine through.”
That certainly is a good way to describe Joseph. His faith in God and godly lifestyle was very evident to those around him. Joseph was not afraid to speak about God.
In the process of interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams, several times he gave testimony to God. His ability to interpret dreams, Joseph says, comes from God: “It is not I; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer” (v. 16). And then in verses 25-32, he talks about what God has revealed to Pharaoh and what God will do.
For Joseph, faith was more than words. He truly trusted God-and it showed. Pharaoh recognized his faith and made the remarkable statement that he saw in Joseph the very spirit of God!
Does your faith show? Can people tell that you are a Christian by what you do as well as by what you say?
Jesus, light of the world, please shine through me! Amen.
