READ : Exodus 3:1-6
God called to him out of the bush. (v. 4)
Providence is not just a small city in Rhode Island. It is the hand of God in human affairs. Moses is tending his father-in-law’s flock in the wilderness when he comes upon a burning bush. Mere coincidence that Moses should wander to exactly this spot at exactly this hour? I don’t think so.
How could Moses have known what we now know, that all his life the hand of God had been moving in the shadows, steering him like a constellation in the sky to its proper alignment, so that he would be in the right place at the right time to have this encounter with the Almighty.
Do you ever think about how life is shaping you for something, and moving you somewhere, steering you like a constellation in the sky to its proper alignment, so that you can be in just the right place at just the right time to have an encounter with God?
You may think your life is chaotic. It may feel that way. But I suggest that your life is unfolding as it was meant to unfold, and that somewhere, in some desert, on some city street, you will have an encounter with the holy, and a voice will call out your name. May you respond, as Moses did, “Here I am.”
Be at work in my life, O God.
