READ : 1 John 1:5-10
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NIV)
Early one Sunday morning, my husband and I and another teammate worshiped together in our small apartment. The music we listened to that day included the song, “Holy Ground.” We experienced a profound sense of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst. We felt reassured that despite the near absence of outward expressions of the faith around us—things such as churches and crosses—God’s Spirit was definitely present with and within each one of us.
Later that day, a Chinese friend visited us and asked many questions about Christianity and how a person could become a believer. We clearly explained the process and then asked our friend, “Would you like to become a follower of Jesus?” “Yes, I would,” he replied. So we prayed together, asking God to help him live out his faith in a culture often unfriendly to Christians.
We continued to meet with him to study the Bible and discuss issues. We knew it was God’s Spirit in our midst during worship that morning that paved the way for this wonderful event later in the day.
Dear Lord, bless this new brother as he seeks to live out his life in difficult circumstances. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
