What If?

READ : John 14:1-14

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (v. 6 NIV)

Driving me home from having dinner with our work mates, my friend asked, “What if I were to crash, and we would die? I know where you would go, but I am not so sure about myself.” I longed to answer, but my speech device was packed away so I could not tell her what I believed.

With everything that’s going on in the world, many people may be asking the same question, “What will happen to me if something awful occurs and I lose my life?” I am glad that Jesus makes it very clear how to know we will go to heaven. He says that he is the only way to get to God. Only by believing in Jesus as our Savior can we be certain of where we will go after we die. This faith takes away all the worry and wondering.

I was frustrated at not being able to tell my friend the hope I have in Jesus. Give thanks for the ability to communicate easily. Don’t take it for granted! Will you look for opportunities to tell others that knowing Jesus is the only way to be sure where you’re going?

Lord Jesus, thank you for the certainty we have in knowing you. Help us to share that confidence with others.
