I Believe in Jesus Christ

Read: Acts 4:5-12

There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (v. 12)

Christians believe in Jesus Christ, God the Son. He is the Christ, descended from Abraham and King David. Joseph was to name him “Jesus,” because he is the Savior whom God has graciously provided for all his sinful people (Matt. 1:21).

Peter boldly proclaimed that “there is salvation in no one else.” After a healing miracle performed in the ever-powerful name of Jesus, Peter shared the good news of salvation through trustfully relying on Jesus’ saving “name” (Acts 4:12).

In agreement with the Apostles’ Creed, Ralph Brown was a man who could simply and sincerely express his belief in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a warm and friendly individual, who enjoyed heart-to-heart talks. His son, Malcolm, warmly remembers attending church with the family one Sunday. Thirteen-year-old Malcolm was walking forward to receive Christ, when he heard footsteps coming up behind him. Turning around, Malcolm saw that his dad, Ralph Brown, was following along to stand beside him, while the teenager took this all-important step of faith! With Malcolm, Ralph affirmed his belief in Jesus Christ.

In his nineties, Ralph faced life-threatening cancer surgery. Lifting his hand, he blessed each of his family members. He did not complain or become despondent. He still believed in Jesus Christ. —John Tousley
